This 5-day training teaches the participants how to start volunteering projects in their
own ecovillage. We cover diferrent aspects: beaurocratic procedures in all project
stages (accreditation, application, implementation and follow-up), practical aspects of
integrating volunteers into the community, exchange of experience, meeting with
local volunteers and more.
A new EU program for volunteering is being introduced at the moment: the European
Solidarity Corps that we will cover in detail. If they continue to exist we will also
introduce participants to volunteering projects under ERASMUS+ – scroll down on
this page to find the relevant information. The details of the new program are still
being discussed in Brussels, but will probably be available by the time the training
starts.
The training is also a great networking opportunity. For a volunteering project you
usually need a sending and a hosting partner, and you just might find one for your
project here, though this practice might be discontinued for the Solidarity Corps.
The language of the training is English.
An EU grant covers food and accommodation at the venue as well as the training
itself. There is a travel grant that may or may not be quite enough to cover real costs
so you might need to top it up.
The training takes place October 08-12 in Cloughjordan Ecovillage, Ireland, and you
are required to participate for the entire duration. Arrival day is October 07 with the
training starting after dinner, departure day is October 13.
